Vasili Lazerev![]() Born on the 23rd of February, 1928, Vasili Grigoryevich Lazerev was a student in higher air force school and eventually became a Soviet air force cornel. He also received a degree in medicine from the Saratov Medical Institute in 1952. On the 26th of May 1964, Vasili Lazarev was selected to become a cosmonaut. He then trained for nearly two years (January 1966 - December 1967) before becoming a test pilot. He was then assigned to fly with Makarov on the Soyuz 12 Mission to test the modifications to the 7K-T rocket, after it blew up on the Soyuz 12 mission. He also flew on the Soyuz 18 mission. He sadly died in Moscow on the 31st of December, 1990.

Backup Crew
The first backup crew consisted of Aleksei Aleksandrovich as the commander and Georgi Mikhailovich as the flight engineer, and in the second backup crew was Pyotr Iliych as the captain and Vitali Ivanovich as the flight engineer.
